Stephanie Johnson MBACP (Accred)
Hello, I’m Steph, and for many years, together with my partner Sarah, I have had the idea to create a “Wellbeing Centre” for all to access.
It is very exciting that this has now come to be, and that it will offer a number of options to support and facilitate ways through difficulties or issues, and/or to enhance a general sense of wellbeing for our clients to live life to its full potential.
This is me and what I offer.
I am an experienced and professionally qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have accreditation status with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). This means that my training and practice have been judged to meet the standards for competent, ethical and independent practitioners and that I abide by the BACP’s code of ethical practice. It also allows me to use the logo below which contains my personal acceditation number.
Since qualifying in 2000, I have worked full time within a counselling environment. Initially I worked with Channel4 covering helplines and internet support for those affected by emotive issues in television programmes.
You may have seen the “Generation Sex” programmes (covering sex education for young people) Or “Stop – Go Home” for work related stress. And one that’s still running (in a slightly different format) “Embarrassing Illnesses”. I became the Supervisor for this team throughout its three years in existence. My team then obtained a contract for the National Mind Information Line and I worked on this for two years as a specialist advisor. During this time I built up a private practice in counselling and gained employment within secondary education.
I ran my counselling practice from within two secondary schools, and I have worked with hundreds of teenagers (and many Teachers!!) during my nine years in this environment.
I work as an Integrative Counsellor for specific issues that you may be troubling you, and as an Integrative Psychotherapist for those seeking to learn more about themselves and their situations.
The term ‘Integrative’ means that I have, and use, my training in more than one theoretical approach. I do not believe that “one size fits all” and that each therapeutic relationship is unique and special.
I work with individuals, including young people, and with couples. Most of my appointment times at Riverside Wellbeing are made on Wednesdays and Thursdays. However, there may be other days available.
